Repent: For the Kingdom of Heaven is at Hand

From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. — Matthew 4:17

As I type today’s message, I give God the glory and the honor and the praise. Not by saying Hallelujah or praise the Lord, but by showing him that I praise him through being who I am created to be in him.

Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

This message is a simple message, yet profound. What exactly was Jesus saying? What exactly is Jesus saying? What is God, our Father saying to us when he says, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you. — Luke 17:21

When Jesus gave this command [this rule; statute; judgment; law; instruction; direction] he was simply saying look no further, this is what it looks like to be in the will of God. This is what the word of God looks like in the flesh.

But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. — James 1:22

As children of God we are called to do more than just quote scriptures all day to every one meet. We are created to be the word.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. — John 1:1

And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. — Revelation 19:13

I remember when the Lord called me to serve him back in 2004/5. New Year’s Eve night, five minutes before the ball dropped, the Lord caused me to go to sleep and he did a new thing in me. He showed me myself standing on a stage with people clapping in the audience. The atmosphere was me preaching his word. I knew it was God telling me so, because the last ones in my family to preach the word of God were my great-grandparents. I didn’t even learn that until 2012. All I knew was I was to be a teacher. I never once thought or even saw me teaching and preaching the word of God. But God did.

Where I went wrong was asking others to help me bring God’s vision to me to life. I wasn’t looking to be rude to God, I just wanted to help. I had accepted the call on my life and I wanted to tell everyone else about it. I was so ready to go. I thought that once he called me the rest was up to me. However, with God it’s different. Not only does he call you, but he equips you by preparing you with all you need. This includes the directions on getting the job done. No one had ever told me that.

Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee: And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed. — Genesis 12:1-3

When God called Abraham he [God] did not involve others to direct Abraham where to go. Abraham had no one else to consult with. All he had was all he needed — God.

Are you in a place today that you know God is all you need, however, surely there has to be something you need to do? I have good news for you: There is something for you to do!

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. — Proverbs 3:5

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. — Jeremiah 29:11

Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations. — Jeremiah 1:5

This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. — Joshua 1:8

The vision God has given you is written in the plans he has for you. In order to obtain all he has promised you and shown you, you will have to obey [do] all that he has commanded you to do, and you will eat the good of the land [the promise land: a land flowing with milk and honey; no lack no drought; no famine.

Trust God’s vision for you and use what you have. Don’t be the man with the one talent who decided it was better to hide it rather than invest it. You were not called to be hidden. You see, many of us think that as long as we don’t have droves of people following us that God has us hidden. But the truth is, he has exposed you. If you are called to teach the word of God, then spend your days studying, meditating, and teaching and writing. Don’t look for the crowd, the crowd will come [follow]. Instead teach yourself. Write the lessons, study the lessons, ask questions and answer them as well. Do not be dependent upon the fame of the world. Be dependent upon the glory of God. Even if you are a singer, or dancer, or architect; maybe you are a builder, or teacher, or real estate agent; whatever seed God has placed in you will manifest and succeed and prosper as long as you do all he commands you to do and not what the world commands you to do.

And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it. And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about. — Luke 4:6,14

Notice how the devil will try to tempt you into thinking when you do it the way the world does it that will give you success. However, when we get to verse 14, we see how the devil has no power over anything and everything comes from God; this includes wealth and success. Everything and all things come from God.

But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day. — Deuteronomy 8:18

Don’t be afraid to start slow. Slow and steady wins the race. Just look at how Jesus lived his life and showed us how to live life. Jesus didn’t have to want for anything because he did all God commanded him to do. He said all God said [spoke the word]. He did all God said [became the word]. It will take us to totally surrender to God. We can not entertain the spirit of fear. I will talk more about fear in another lesson. Give up the world and take up your cross. Taste and see how good the Lord is. As you climb out the ladder, you will obtain all you will need to produce all you were called to produce. God didn’t put you here to be unfruitful. He put you here to be fruitful and multiply.

Don’t question the Holy Spirit. Asking God for help is one thing. God wants us to ask him for help. But when he tells you what to do — DO IT! And if you keep asking him, Lord is that you and he doesn’t answer, 9 times out of 10, it’s him. Go forth and do what he tells you to do and you will become who he created you to be.

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. — Matthew 6:33

If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land: — Isaiah 1:19

Be encouraged. Be inspired. Be who God created you to be.
