And Jabez was more honorable than his brethren, and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, Because I bare him with sorrow. And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it might not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested. — 1 Chronicles 4:9-10
What are you seeking from the LORD? What is the one thing that you desire most from God?
One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple. — Psalm 27:4
In Luke 11, verse 13, Jesus teaches us that God will give us more when we ask him for the Holy Spirit.
If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him? — Luke 11:13
Why do you fear God? Is it because of who He is or because of what he can do for you? Why do you fear God? Is it because it’s right or is it because of what you can get out of him for you?
In Job 1:9, Satan responds to God with this very same question, Doth Job fear God for nought? Nought, nothing; does Job fear [love, serve] God for nothing [just because]? Satan knew that God was covering and protecting Job. He also knew that it is God who caused Job to increase in everything, making him blessed. Now, while we can look at this as the devil messing with you; we also know that it is God who authorizes Satan to go and mess with [us] Job. (Job 1:12; 2:6) Satan cannot come and mess with us without God authorizing and giving him the permission to do so? However, I want to invite you to look at the situation you are in and the circumstance you are facing from a different perspective; a higher level. (Deuteronomy 28:13) I want you to see this situation or circumstance as God testing you.
Study to shew yourself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. — 2 Timothy 2:15
Whatever the situation or circumstance is, these are the following questions you will need to answer:
Is this the will of God for you [his children]?
What evidence or proof do you have that this is or is not the will of God for you [his children]?
What is God’s will pertaining to such a matter? In other words, what does God say?
Do you believe God?
Once you answer those questions, all that is now left for you to do in the end is to state what is written as did Jesus when he went through his tests and trials:
It is written, _____________________________________________________________________________.
Yes, speak the Word of God [submit yourselves unto God] and the devil will flee. (James 4:7) Remember, Our Father will not lead us into temptation. What is the temptation? To sin against [not believe] God. Whenever you find yourself facing giants, your first reaction may be to run, but with God being for you there is no reason to run. All you need to do is arise and say what God says with boldness [believing God] and the enemy will flee.
What does all of this have to do with enlarging your territory?
Because before God will give you more in the natural, you first must ask him to fill you with more of the spiritual [of Him; His Holy Spirit]. Jabez, needed for God to be with him above all else. Jabez was seeking God because of who God is, not the latter. Jabez knew that without God he had nothing, was nothing, and nothing would be possible. Jabez knew he needed to keep God first, and he did! And because of his faith to keep God first, [believe God] God rewarded Jabez with all he asked him for and more.
God did the same with all of those who trusted Him to be the way, the truth, and the life. He did the same for Abraham, he did the same for Noah, he did the same for Jacob, he did the same for Esther, he did the same for Deborah, he did the same for Ruth. God did the same for Jesus too! To date, the work Jesus did is still being talked about. However, the true work, the essence of the work Jesus did came by his faith. His faith to believe God.
Faithful is he that calleth you , who also will do it. — 1 Thessalonians 5:24
And the apostles said unto the LORD, Increase our faith. — Luke 17:5
And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief. — Matthew 13:58
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth in me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. — John 14:12
Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. — John 14:1
And he said, I will certainly return unto thee according to the time of life; and to Sarah thy wife shall have a son. And Sarah heard it in the tent door, which was behind him. — Genesis 18:10
Now Abraham and Sarah were old and well stricken in age; and it ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women. Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, After I am waxed old shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also? And the LORD said unto Abraham, Wherefore did Sarah laugh, saying, Shall I of a surety bear a child, which am old? Is any thing too hard for the LORD? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son. — Genesis 18:11-14
Do you want for God to enlarge your territory? Are you tired of limiting God down to the size of man’s ability? Are the desires of your heart, the desires of God? If you have answered yes to these questions and truly mean them from within your heart, then REPENT! for the kingdom of God is at hand. For so long you have prayed amiss; for the things concerning you and your flesh; however, now you can pray in the Spirit and watch God be God and fight every battle on your behalf. You say you believe in God, then believe also in Jesus and do the same works Jesus showed us to do when he lived amongst us in the flesh. Jesus didn’t make it about himself. Jesus made it about the things of God. Jesus cared for the people because God cares for his people. Jesus had compassion on the people because God has compassion on his people. Jesus fed the people because God feeds his people. Jesus healed the people because God heals his people. Jesus loved the people because God loves his people. Jesus forgave the people because God has forgiven his people.
Ready for God to enlarge your territory? Ask God for the Holy Spirit and receive all that God has for you. Exceedingly. Abundantly. Above all you could ask, think, or imagine. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
Be encouraged. Be inspired. Be who God created you to be.
